Graham  Moran

Graham hails from the local town of Castlebar (Caisleán an Bharraigh). Known to many who will be attending the wedding, it is a traditional market town in the centre of Mayo, a county that makes people go rabid for GAA. Luckily, Graham is generally immune to this state. Did you know that the town is named after a Norman adventurer named De Barrie, who founded a castle here in 1235? Not only that, but none of the castle is visible today. This area is especially associated with the Bingham family who resided here from 1584 in The Lawn House. They later became the Lucan family, and there was a bit of scandal over a murder in London at one point. It didn't happen here though, so don't worry! Castlebar was once the capital of the 'Provisional Republic of Connacht' and is the burial place of John Moore, the first appointed President of that Republic on 31 August 1798. This short-lived Republic had come about from a rebellion, and Graham's family's first residence in his childhood was in fact on Staball Hill, which was the site of a battle where the British were run out of the town.

 Sergei Medvedev

Sergei, or Seryozha (to close family and friends), or Suji (to Mary Moran) is from the delightful Siberian city of Омск. Omsk is sometimes referred to as "Oh My God, So Cold!" due to its famously harsh winters. There is a popular internet meme in Russia that features a fictional character named "Omsk Bird" who is known for his sarcastic and pessimistic sense of humour. Unrelated to this bird, it is commonly joked about in Russia that it is impossible to leave Omsk, so think twice before visiting! In 2016, a group of Omsk residents organized a protest against the city's mayor by dressing up as zombies and marching through the streets. Omsk is home to a statue of a reclining bear that has become a popular spot for tourists to take funny photos. It gets funnier for the locals though, as the same tourists are found there every day, being unable to leave the city. This gets interesting in winter, with temperatures sometimes dropping to -40 degrees Celsius. Finally, it may interest you to know that Suji did not know any of these fun facts (except the bird - and even then, he didn't want to tell you about it at first).

Wedding Events

Main Ceremony & Drinks

2:00 PM 4:30 PM
Sunday 17 September, 2023

Hand-Fasting Ceremony in Breaffy House Hotel followed by drinks. Hand-fasting is a unity ritual in which a couple stands face to face as their hands are tied together, hence, tying the knot! As their hands are bound, words are recited that express their commitment to each another. This ritual is done within the context of a Celtic Pagan ceremony which will be conducted by a Druid. If this offends anybody's personal religious beliefs, we will not take non-attendance of this ceremony personally.

Wedding Party

Sunday 17 September, 2023

After the ceremony and reception drinks, guests will be invited to sit down to a 5-course dinner. After this, we will have a playlist on for the rest of the evening, so bring your dancing shoes! We will try to cater to a variety of music styles, but if you have any specific music requests to be played on the day, please send them to Graham or Sergei in advance, either by email to grahamsergei@gmail.com or WhatsApp. The main music theme will be pop, particularly focused from the 80s to the 2000s.
